The Mind in a Nutshell                                                                                             Nogah Lord 3/92 rev. 6/16

Filed in our subconscious mind are countless programs relating to: our worldview, the way we view ourselves, and the way we view other people. Most of the information stored in our bio-computer is either false or useless. These programs should be taken out, deleted, so that we can be available to hear our intelligence, which gives us information relevant to the present. To get there, we can start by affirming statements of truth - positive statements, which are opposite than the negative thoughts that come up automatically.

Most of us live in a reality based on false assumptions. We constantly misinterpret events and come to wrong conclusions about others and ourselves. We misinterpret our present experiences because we view events and people through old memories, which act as filters, so they distort what is really happening. In addition, because we view ourselves as separate from all lives, we can only see a partial view.

Life passes us by, as we lament our past and dread our future. We are so preoccupied living in our fabricated reality that we can not be free to enjoy each present moment. Only by being free of the past can we be present to the present where there is real joy.

Each time we believe our negative thoughts and harbor ill feelings, we are actually wounding our very essence. And since we are part of everything living, we hurt others as well. So, whenever we have a hard time keeping our mind positive, we should ask God for help. God will help us overcome any obstacle even if we are not believers. If we do this consistently, eventually we will develop total trust in God.

To contact God and gain control over our thoughts and emotions we need to sit in meditation daily. At other times, we should remain conscious of our breath-flow. We can also practice some breathing exercises before asking God for help.
